DON'T LET YOUR MIND BULLY YOUR BODY
Raven Tracy @ 2019-04-18 11:22:36 -0700In Western Society, most women believe that they are not adequate because they don’t match society's "ideal" measurements. Well I am here to tell you and that voice inside your head, that you don’t have to live up to society’s unrealistic standards when it comes to your body. It's hard to get away from these standards when we are constantly surrounded by images (Instagram, Magazines, Movies, Billboards) telling us how to look and how to dress. And eventually we start to believe what they are telling us.
With summer just around the corner, there isn't a better time for me to speak up and remind women everywhere - f*ck society's standards. We owe it to ourselves, our daughters, our sisters, and our friends to be free from society's standard!
We deserve to be basking in the sun at the beach or by the pool, celebrating ourselves, celebrating our lives. But it is exactly these moments, when we are out having fun, that those little voices inside our heads start reminding us of our insecurities, taking us out of the moment.
This internal voice is a powerful voice, because it's your voice. But I am here to remind you, that you can silence that voice. Inside of thinking negative thoughts, try changing the dialogue.
It's crazy to think that we don't want to leave the house, and go out into society, if we haven't brushed our hair, put on mascara or even when have a few breakouts. How ridiculous is this? When you actually say this out loud and think about it? So what if you didn't have time to brush your hair. So what if people see you without makeup! So what if you have a zit or two! We are women! And we are beautiful!
Societal standard are out there for women of all shapes, sizes and races. For instance, “Real women have curves” is not body-positivity AT ALL! A woman could be fat, without that curvy hourglass figure that society accepts, and yet be beautiful. A woman could be stocky without curves and society will say that she is masculine. A woman could be a petite without curves and still be shamed for having a "girls body."
DON'T LISTEN TO SOCIETY. DON'T LISTEN TO THAT VOICE INSTEAD YOUR HEAD THAT TELLS YOU, YOU AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH, TALL ENOUGH, CURVY ENOUGH.
We are strong and we are beautiful. As women, we all look different, live by different principles, and behave however we want. Let’s be proud of each other and stop our minds from bullying our bodies because we are more than enough. We are everything we need to be!
With Love,
BODY
